Pattern – The Summer Tunique of Violette d’Epigny by Sylvia MacNeil, October 2007 issue of Antique DOLL Collector.
Antique DOLL Collector magazine is pleased to share another pattern from our archives.
Designed by the late Sylvia MacNeil and included in the October 2007 issue of Antique DOLL Collector this pattern is meticulously designed and will be of great interest to today’s doll costumers.
MacNeil was known for her detailed research on original costume design and construction techniques used on the French poupées of the nineteenth century. MacNeil shared her research through numerous magazine articles and patterns as well as through her books The Paris Collection: French Doll Fashions & Accessories (Cumberland: Hobby House Press, 1992) and The Enchanting Trousseau of Chiffonnette Under Napoleon III 1852-1870 (West Barnstable: West Barnstable Press, 2013).
MacNeil’s introduction to this pattern relates that this pattern was based on a piece from the wardrobe of a doll featured in the special exhibit “ The Dolls of the Petites Filles Modèles” which was on display at the Musèe de la Poupée in Paris in 2007.
We hope you enjoy this pattern as much today as did those who used it seventeen years ago.
